The submandibular gland is the second largest of the three main salivary glands, which also include the parotid and sublingual glands. There are two salivary glands on each side of the body. The most common disease is the pleomorphic adenoma of the gland which is benign tumor, however we can still have malignant tumors in these glands that can involve nearby nerves and structures. We could also have inflammatory diseases. Surgery of the submandibular gland is done by high professional surgeons as they are very delicate and need high surgical techniques in resecting them.
In Dr Suhair Al Saad Centre, we have Dr. Hamdi Al Shenawi who is very interested in doing such operations with excellent results.
